Not keen on petrol power? The 2021 Genesis G80 range now offers a diesel option.
Joining the existing 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre turbo-petrol variants of Genesis' large sedan, G80 buyers can now opt for a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder option, priced from $87,900 before on-road costs – a $3000 premium over the entry-level G80 2.5T.
Outputs are rated at 154kW and 442Nm (from 1750-2750rpm), sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Genesis claims a combined fuel economy claim of 6.6L/100km.
The engine features a range of technologies intended to reduce emissions and improve noise, vibration and harshness, including a first-for-Genesis selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) that neutralises harmful exhaust gasses to minimise emissions.

The G80 2.2D matches the 2.5T on standard equipment, meaning inclusions such as a 14.5-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and satellite navigation, 8.0-inch instrument display, 12-inch head-up display, 19-inch alloy wheels, quilted leather upholstery, heated and ventilated electric front seats, LED lighting, and wood trim.
Other highlights include a power-adjustable steering column, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, keyless entry, push-button start, 21-speaker Lexicon sound system, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a power boot lid.
Standard driver assistance features include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection and support for intersections, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-following assist, blind-spot monitoring (with braking), rear cross-traffic alert (with braking), a 360-degree camera, the Blind-Spot View Monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and 10 airbags.
A $13,000 Luxury Package is available, which adds a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control, 18-way electric massaging driver's seat, nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel, dual 9.2-inch rear entertainment screens, low-speed rear AEB, soft-close doors, and remote parking from the key fob, among other additions.
Eleven exterior colours, five interior colours and two wood options are available, as per the wider G80 range, with matte exterior paint commanding a $2000 premium.
