Around the tracks: Driver caught speeding at Bathurst as he “thought it was a racetrack”

Never have we heard a better excuse for getting pulled over for speeding: "I thought it was a race track." That's right, a person had their driver's licence suspended after clocking almost twice the speed limit at Mount Panorama.

The driver was caught travelling at 119km/h, which is nearly double the road’s 60km/h limit. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.

A very costly afternoon you might say, as it cost them $2520, a suspended licence for a period of six months, and the seizure of their number plates. We think they'll think again before applying full throttle down Conrod Straight and pretending to be Shane Van Gisbergen, in a four-cylinder BMW.

Richard Hammond's latest endeavour involves a staring role in his own car restoration show. The former Top Gear star and current co-host of The Grand Tour will launch his new show on Discovery Plus, called Richard Hammond’s Workshop – claimed to be a working title.

In the show Hammond and a father-and-son team will build a classic car restoration business near Hammond’s home in Herefordshire, UK.

Details so far include that the show will star Hammond along with Neil and Anthony Greenhouse, who will run the garage, restoring an assortment of barn finds, rare automobiles, and Hammond’s own eclectic collection of automobiles and motorcycles. The show starts later this year.

It seems Kim Kardashian is running out of ideas of what to do with her millions, so she decided to wrap her Lamborghini Urus in sheep fur-like fabric. A big marketing budget it seems to promote her clothing brand "Skims", which makes underwear and shapewear. So while the label has absolutely no link to cars, the campaign is a fun play on the word 'Lamb'orghini.

We have no idea what an undertaking like this would cost, but all we are thinking about is how it would look once it starts raining. Surely the fur covering was applied just for the photoshoot then torn to shreds. Here's hoping.

Aston Martin is celebrating the centenary of its oldest surviving car, ‘A3’, by building a modern day tribute. It will be based on one of its most animated series-production sports cars, the new Vantage Roadster.

It's been 100 years since the A3 was manufactured in London – back then branded as chassis No. 3. Fitted with a 1.5-litre side-valve engine, it clocked up various light car speed records in its day.

To commemorate the historic car’s major milestone, UK dealer HWM Aston Martin commissioned the car through the bespoke division of the great British luxury car maker, Q by Aston Martin, capturing the spirit of ‘A3’ in the new Vantage Roadster.

Interested buyers will need to get in quick as production is strictly limited to three examples via HWM Aston Martin in the United Kingdom.

British racing driver Jenson Button has launched an exclusive retro magazine collection, giving motorsport fans a ride through history with the F1 World Champion.

The collaboration between the magazine app Readly and the original racing magazine, Motor Sport, features Jensen's first-hand reports of his iconic F1 moments from the last 100 years. It also includes races that inspired him to get into the sport from a young age, career-defining moments, and sporting memories that have shaped his 17-year career.
