2021 Brabus 900 Rocket Edition: Tuned Mercedes-AMG G63 gets bigger engine, upgraded interior and more aero

Brabus has unveiled its latest creation, dropping a bored-out 4.5-litre turbo V8 into AMG's hottest G-Wagen.

The 2021 Brabus 900 Rocket Edition – which is an aftermarket tuned version of the already-formidable Mercedes-AMG G63 – has been revealed, with increased engine capacity, more power, new aerodynamic features, and a modified interior.

Power comes from a 4.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V8, essentially a bored-out version of the 4.0-litre block in the G63.

This has been retuned to put out 662kW/1250Nm, up from 430kW/850Nm in the 'garden-variety' performance SUV.

Drive is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, allowing the 2560kg behemoth to launch from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.7 seconds, on the way to an electronically-limited top speed of 280 km/h.

Inside the cabin, four bucket seats are trimmed in black leather, while aluminium highlights and carbon fibre inlays garnish the dashboard and door cards. Infotainment comes via a centre-mounted 12.3-inch touchscreen.

Low-profile tyres wrap around 24-inch black carbon alloy wheels on all four corners of the car.

An extreme aero kit – comprising a large spoiler at the rear and aggressive splitter under the grille – also features. “The bodywork conversion makes the current G-Model appear even more massive,” Brabus claims.

Just 25 examples of the 2021 Brabus 900 Rocket Edition are slated for production, with a starting price of €480,059 (AU$755,000) before on-road costs.
