Honda Li Nian S1 (Everus) at 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show

Like the unveiling of the all-new Nissan Sunny compact sedan earlier this week, Honda has revealed its own small car – the Guangqi Honda Li Nian S1 – at the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show in China.

The Li Nian S1 (or Everus in English) is Honda’s longest running vehicle name in China.

Designed and produced by Guangqi Honda (the joint venture between Honda and Guangzhou Automobile), the Everus will be targeted at a younger generation of drivers and those looking for an entry-level vehicle cheaper than Honda’s current offerings in China.

In typical Google Translate style, Honda has described the styling of the Everus as “powerful, energetic and outstanding”, and expects the vehicle to enhance the quality of the brand and help it meet the diversifying needs of its customers.

Based on an existing Honda platform (believed to be the City compact sedan), the Everus will be available with the choice of a 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre engine when it is launched in China in the first half of 2011.

Honda plans to sell between 30,000-50,000 Everus vehicles in 2011.
