Video: 2022 Ferrari V6 hybrid caught road testing ahead of June 24 reveal

Insiders have revealed a date for the unveiling of the V6 hybrid Ferrari, with a prototype being spotted on Italian streets.

Ferrari's new 'baby supercar' has been spotted driving on the roads around Maranello, Italy ahead of its expected release later this month.

The new Ferrari model is widely reported to have a hybrid V6 powertrain – rumoured to be a derivative of the same engine found in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio – prompting some rumours to suggest the model will see the resurrection of the Dino badge.

An email sent to customers of the brand suggests the new Ferrari will be launched this month, with insiders pointing to a global online reveal on 24 June 2021.

"Ferrari powers into June with exciting news – the launch of a new sports car, of the marque’s fashion collection, and the opening of the Cavallino restaurant," the email read. "Each reflects the passion and excellence of the Prancing Horse."

In February 2021, overseas media reported the new hybrid model – codenamed F171 – will come with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 440kW, with an electric motor boosting that figure to 522kW.

The new 'baby' Ferrari is aimed at stealing back customers from McLaren, as well as taking some market share away from the dominating six-cylinder Porsche 911.

Spy videographer channel Varryx spotted the heavily-camouflaged Ferrari prototype testing on the roads around the company's headquarters, ahead of its expected reveal later this month.
