2021 Genesis GV80, G80 2.5T recalled with potential fuel pipe fault
The vehicles' fuel delivery pipes could be defective, allowing fuel to leak out into a hot engine bay and cause a fire, according to Genesis.
Hyundai Motor Company Australia has recalled a total of 11 examples of the 2021 Genesis G80 2.5T and 2021 Genesis GV80 2.5T.
According to the recall notice lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), "The fuel delivery pipes on the 2.5T GDI engines may be defective and fuel may leak out of the pipes.
"Fuel leakage creates a fire risk when the engine is hot. A vehicle fire increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property."
All four affected G80 (RG3-series) models and seven affected GV80 (JX1-series) vehicles are stamped Model Year 2021, and were available for sale between 20 January 2021 and 1 April 2021.
A full list of the vehicle identification numbers can be found here for the four affected G80s, and here for the seven recalled GV80s.
Genesis' Australian division has contacted affected owners, and arranged valet services to pick up the vehicles for a free-of-charge repair. Owners can call Genesis Motor Australia on 1800 908 070 for more information.
