Around the tracks: An American TV star clocks a blisteringly quick quarter-mile time in the Tesla Model S Plaid

It’s no secret that the Model S Plaid is a quick car, with Tesla claiming a 0-100km/h time of 2.1 seconds. American TV star Jay Leno recently achieved an incredible time behind the wheel of a production Plaid at the Auto Club Famosa drag strip, near Bakersfield, California.

Leno claims he returned a 9.247 1/4 mile time (402m) at 245km/h. This time (which Tesla has since verified) is incredible for a production car, let alone a practical sedan – Tesla has manufactured an absolute rocket!

The Model S Plaid delivers 820kW of power from its three electric motors and all-wheel drive. These numbers make this sedan quicker to 100km/h from a standstill than its key rival, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, and the McLaren 720S supercar.

25 years on from its unveiling, Bugatti is putting one of its rarest models in the spotlight – the track-ready Bugatti EB110 Sport Competitzione racer. 

It's the last factory race car Bugatti put its name to, and while its motorsports career was short-lived, the example is still revered to this day for its heritage.

A Monaco-based privateer, Gildo Pallanca-Pastor, commissioned two examples of the Sport Competitzione version to do battle in the American IMSA series and other international endurance events. Both race-spec EB110 vehicles produced were powered by a 3.5-litre quad-turbocharged V12 engine which sent 514kW to all four wheels.

Floyd Mayweather purchased a new fleet of vehicles from Towbin Auto Group in Las Vegas, including three 2021 Dodge Challengers, two 2021 Dodge Chargers, one Dodge Journey, a 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz S560, and a pair of Rolls-Royces for himself, at least one of which is a 2021 Ghost.

The price tag? US$1 million (AU$1.29 million) – a surprising figure given one 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost on its own will set you back $628,000 plus on-road costs in Australia

Mayweather certainly isn't too concerned about price tags though, as his last fight scored him a reported US$100 million.

Are you a patient person? How about this for a project? Lego has revealed its latest life-sized creation – a 400,000-piece Lamborghini Sian FKP 37. The dimensions of the replica are identical to that of the real-life car, measuring in at 4980mm long, 2101mm wide, and 1133mm high.

The Lego model is so involved that it features a steering wheel made entirely from Lego bricks and decorated with the Lamborghini emblem and Italian flag, plus Lego dashboard controls, and racing bucket seats. A true work of art, this project took 8660 hours to develop.

The Awesomer has shared a very detailed guide titled 'How to make Fat Scooter.' The video is a detailed guide on how to make the ultimate electric scooter – with a touch of F1-inspired flair. It looks just a tad harder than changing a pair of tyres – but the end product is definitely one of a kind!

This unique scooter features wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres, and is powered by a 25kW brushless electric motor. Its low-profile battery pack sits under the scooter's riding deck.
