2020 Audi A6 and A7 recalled for dashboard fault preventing full airbag inflation
A manufacturing issue with the dashboard panel could prevent the front passenger airbag from inflating completely, says Audi.
Audi Australia has recalled 57 examples of the 2020 Audi A6 and 2020 Audi A7.
According to the recall notice lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), "due to a manufacturing issue with the vehicle's dash panel, the front passenger airbag may not fully inflate in the event of an accident.
"In the event of an accident resulting in the front passenger airbag being activated, the airbag may not fully inflate and/or plastic fragments may propel out through the airbag cushion towards vehicle occupants. This increases the risk of serious injury and/or death to vehicle occupants."
All 57 affected A6 ('C8' generation) and A7 ('F2' generation) vehicles are stamped Model Year 2020 – though dates the vehicles were available for sale are not listed in the recall notice.
A full list of all affected vehicle identification numbers can be found here.
