2021 Kia Cerato GT price and specs: Facelifted warm hatch here this month from $36,990 drive-away – UPDATE

Prices for the updated warm hatch have been announced, ahead of first showroom arrivals later this month.

  • 2021 Kia Cerato GT pricing and specification
  • Updated warm hatch hit with $1100 price rise before on-road costs
  • New features include a sunroof and a larger infotainment screen
  • On sale in Australia from mid-June 2021

Pricing and specifications for the 2021 Kia Cerato GT have been confirmed, ahead of the model's local arrival in mid-June.

Following the regular 2.0-litre Cerato range into showrooms, details of Kia's turbocharged 'warm' hatch have surfaced ahead of first deliveries later this month, with prices to start from $35,290 before on-road costs for both hatch and sedan body styles – an increase of $1100 over the pre-update model's $34,190 before on-roads sticker.

UPDATE, 3 June 2021, 10:20am: Kia has confirmed a $36,990 drive-away price for the Cerato GT, which is an indefinite offer that applies nationwide. The price list at the bottom of the story has been updated with the new figure.

Headlining the equipment list for Model Year 2022 (despite being halfway through 2021) is the addition of a tilt/sliding sunroof – a key omission from the outgoing model for many potential buyers – and the return of ventilated front seats, which are believed to have been quietly removed from the spec sheet early in 2021.

Other new-for-2021 features shared with lesser Cerato grades include a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, 4.2-inch driver's info display, and active safety features including lane-following assist and rear-seat alert.

Under the bonnet sits a carry-over 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 150kW and 265Nm to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Claimed combined fuel use continues to be rated at 6.8L/100km.

Over the Sport+, the Cerato GT gains 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, multi-link independent rear suspension, LED headlights and tail-lights, red exterior accents, dual exhaust tips, leather-trimmed sports seats with red piping and contrast stitching, and a GT-branded steering wheel and gear selector.

It also scores paddle shifters, wireless smartphone charging, an eight-speaker JBL Premium sound system and, using the pre-facelift model as a guide, likely an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat.

The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster available overseas isn't offered in Australia.

Standard safety features carried over from lesser grades include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with braking support, and rear cross-traffic alert with braking.

The 2021 Kia Cerato GT will go on sale in Australia in mid-June 2021.
