2021 Isuzu MU-X website goes live, first 1500 buyers get a free watch

The 2021 Isuzu MU-X is due in showrooms within a few months. Order books open today, with the first 1500 buyers to get a free Casio G-Shock watch.

Customer orders for the new-generation 2021 Isuzu MU-X four-wheel-drive are open from today as a dedicated website goes live to receive “expressions of interest” – and the first 1500 people in the queue will score a free Casio G-Shock watch.

Prices and Australian details for the first new Isuzu MU-X in eight years are yet to be released, however CarAdvice revealed the key highlights when the model was unveiled in Thailand last year.

Technology highlights include a full suite of advanced safety technology, while top-end models will have bi-LED headlights, a 9.0-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone mirroring, and a powered tailgate which can be operated by remote control.

The 2021 Isuzu MU-X is likely to be powered by the same revised 3.0-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder engine fitted to the new Isuzu D-Max ute (developing 140kW/450Nm) and paired to a choice of six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmissions.

A rear differential lock will be fitted as standard to four-wheel-drive variants, after not being available on the current model.

CarAdvice is looking forward to testing the new Isuzu MU-X’s off-road traction control system, to see if the company has addressed the shortcomings of the technology in the Isuzu D-Max ute.

Isuzu says price and specification for Australian examples of the 2021 Isuzu MU-X will be released closer to the vehicle’s arrival in local showrooms, which is expected to be in the August to September time frame, based on the arrival of the Isuzu D-Max ute last year.

The imminent arrival of the new model means dealers will be running sharp deals to clear run-out stock before the outgoing model becomes a generation old.

It is unclear if the 2021 Isuzu MU-X will be plagued by the same severe stock shortages that have been felt across the car industry and throttled deliveries of the new Isuzu D-Max ute, which currently has a waiting list of four to six months on some variants.
