2021 Mercedes-AMG GT price and specs: Night Edition joins range with more power, new equipment

The newest addition to the Mercedes-AMG GT range arrives with a $294,200 price tag, and a 15-unit sales run.

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Night Edition – the newest edition to the German performance brand’s GT range – is now available for order in Australia, priced from $294,200 before on-road costs.

The two-door sports car gains a 40kW power boost over the regular Mercedes-AMG GT (which hasn’t been sold locally since 2019), alongside new standard equipment and aesthetic upgrades.

Drive comes from a front-mounted 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine, sending 390kW and 670Nm to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

That’s enough to conquer the benchmark 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 3.8 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG’s Ride Control adaptive dampers come standard, as does an electronically-controlled limited-slip rear differential.

Inside the cabin, the car features nappa leather trim, a microfibre steering wheel, tinted windows, piano lacquer highlights, heated and electrically-adjustable seats, climate control, and 'Night Edition' badging.

A digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel, while an infotainment interface is mounted high on the dashboard. Audio comes via a 10-speaker Burmester surround sound system.

Externally, the GT Night Edition picks up a carbon-fibre roof, black grille trim, black brake callipers, and a retractable rear spoiler.

Tyres at the front are fitted to 19-inch wheels, while those at the rear wrap around 20-inch examples of the same 11-spoke black alloys.

In the safety department, eight airbags come standard, as does autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, a reversing camera, and an accident anticipatory system that detects an impending accident and prepares the car accordingly.

Alongside the standard Mercedes-AMG colour offerings, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Night Edition can also be optioned in Obsidian Black, Selenite Grey or designo Graphite Grey Magno.

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Night Edition is now available for pre-order in Australia. Just 15 examples will be offered locally, with first deliveries slated for the third quarter of this year (July and September inclusive).
