James Courtney officially joins HRT in 2011

It's official, James Courtney has just signed up a deal with the Toll Holden Racing Team for the next season of the V8 Supercars. Courtney will join his new teammate Garth Tander to front the famous red racing team from 2011.

James is excited to join the team and sees the change as a new challenge after winning the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship earlier this month. He recently said,

"The Toll Holden Racing Team is the most successful V8 Supercar team in the past 20 years and the HRT brand is the most prestigious in Australian motorsport, so I am honoured and excited to join the team.

"Throughout my career I have continually challenged myself and after now having won the V8 Supercar Championship it is time for another test."

James Courtney won the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship with Jim Beam Racing in a Ford Falcon. The transition from Ford to Holden has caused a bit of a stir with the fans, but Courtney is confident and says this is a new chapter for him.

Courtney also took the sign-up deal as an opportunity to pay tribute to the passing of HRT owner and team principal, Tom Walkinshaw. He added,

"I met Tom on a number of occasions. He was a hard core racer whose goal was always to win and he had my total respect and admiration.

"Tom expected results and that is exactly what I plan to bring to Toll HRT and with Garth take the team back to where it belongs."
