2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged – 2008 Detroit Auto Show

2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged - 2008 Detroit Auto Show - Day 2

The new 2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged was on display in Detroit. Using a 6.2-litre LS9 engine attached to a positive-displacement blower and integral charge cooler, the ZR1 is one hell of a car.

GM are very tightlipped about the car's credentials, only saying that it will Produce at least 100 horsepower per litre - 620hp - 462kW.

It will also managed 805Nm of torque. This is no joke, the ZR1 is expected to go from 0-100km/h in mid to low 3s making it one of the fastest cars on the planet.

The limited-production LS9 engine will be built by hand in GM' engine facility in Wixom, Michigan. The car is only available with a six-speed manual transmission, as no automatic could take this much torque!

The supercharged ZR1 will become the first supercharged production Corvette in history.
