2021 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake confirmed for Australia, here by October
Genesis' first wagon is coming to Australia, with a local launch due by October 2021.
The 2021 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake will reach Australian showrooms by October 2021, as the brand's rival to the BMW 3 Series Touring and Mercedes-Benz C-Class wagon.
Genesis Australia confirmed to CarAdvice the G70 Shooting Brake wagon will launch in Australia in the third quarter of 2021 (July to September inclusive), with local pricing and specifications to be confirmed closer to launch.
It'll follow its facelifted G70 sedan sibling (due in June) into showrooms, with a small price premium expected in order to account for its more practical shape.
A set of official teaser images posted over the weekend confirm spy photos published last week, with the wagon differentiating itself through a new rear end comprising a longer wagon roof, sloping tailgate design, and a unique C-pillar graphic.
Genesis' corporate twin-bar tail-lights continue into the tailgate, while a sporty roof spoiler sits above the rear window.
Unsurprisingly, the Shooting Brake will be identical to the related sedan from the B-pillar forwards, with a facelifted front fascia featuring the Korean luxury brand's 'crest' grille, and large 19-inch alloy wheels filling the arches.
The teaser car's dual elliptical exhaust tips suggest it's powered by the sedan's 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6, sending 272kW and 510Nm to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Spy photos indicate a lesser 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder will also be offered, developing 185kW and 353Nm.
The 2021 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake should be unveiled in full in the coming weeks, ahead of its Australian launch between July and September 2021.
