2021 Skoda Octavia 140TSI Limited Edition price and specs

The Skoda Octavia will gain a new mid-tier sports model later in 2021, with punchy turbo power and a fully-loaded standard equipment offering.

  • 2021 Skoda Octavia 140TSI Limited Edition pricing and specification
  • Mid-tier hero on sale from the third quarter (July to September inclusive) to the start of 2022
  • 140kW/320Nm turbo engine hooked up to front-wheel-drive and a seven-speed DSG
  • Priced from $48,490 drive-away

The 2021 Skoda Octavia range will gain a new sub-RS flagship between July and September 2021: the 140TSI Limited Edition.

Priced from $48,490 drive-away as a liftback or $49,990 drive-away as a wagon, the 140TSI Limited Edition is priced just $3000 below than Skoda's halo RS – though it combats a significant power deficit versus the Octavia range-topper with a host of additional standard features.

As its name suggests, the 140TSI Limited Edition will only be offered for a short time, with the variant to make way for a sport-themed 140TSI Sportline at the start of 2022, as a permanent member of the mid-size sedan and wagon range.

Powering the 140TSI is a detuned version of the RS's 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 140kW (thus the name) and 320Nm to the front wheels through a seven-speed (wet) dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Those figures represent decreases of 40kW and 50Nm versus the RS, but increases of 30kW and 70Nm over the lesser 110TSI Style – enough to push the 140TSI from zero to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds.

Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.1L/100km for the liftback and 6.2L/100km for the wagon, with 95 RON premium unleaded required as a minimum. Unlike the related, all-wheel-drive Karoq 140TSI Sportline, a petrol particulate filter (PPF) isn't fitted which, if the car is mistakenly and repeatedly filled with regular unleaded, would require a near-$2000 replacement.

Additional features over the 110TSI Style – detailed in our 2021 Skoda Octavia price and specs guide here – include 19-inch 'Becrux' grey alloy wheels (pictured on the wagon), matrix LED headlights, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, massaging, memory and adjustable cushions, power-adjustable driver lumbar, and rear seat heating.

There's also a pair of electrically-adjustable, heated and folding side mirrors with auto-dimming and memory, plus an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, DAB+ digital radio, a 12-speaker Canton sound system, five USB-C ports, a drive mode selector, tri-zone climate control, and a head-up display.

Safety additions include rear-side airbags (bringing the total to 10), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, traffic-jam assist, Passenger Protect Assist, and Emergency Assist.

The sole options on the 140TSI Limited Edition is a panoramic sunroof for the wagon, costing $1900, and a towbar, for $2100.

It's worth noting that while the aforementioned standard features do represent additions over lesser grades, the one-rung-down 110TSI Style can be optioned with most of those items and more, by specifying the combined Tech and Luxury packs for $7800 – bringing the price difference between the pair to $2100.

Maintaining its status as the flagship variant, the RS exclusively adds (over the 140TSI Limited Edition) a 180kW/370Nm engine tune, VAQ front differential lock, power tailgate, front and rear parking sensors, variable steering, unique 19-inch wheels, 15mm-lower sports suspension, black fabric RS sports seats, unique RS exterior and interior styling, and more.

The 2021 Skoda Octavia 140TSI Limited Edition will go on sale in the third quarter of 2021 (July to September inclusive), with the 140TSI Sportline to replace it in the New Year.
