2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace facelift teased ahead of May 12 reveal
Updated seven-seat SUV teased ahead of next-week's reveal. It'll be in Australia in early 2022.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace facelift has been teased, ahead of its full debut on May 12, and an Australian launch early next year.
A sole teaser image released by Volkswagen overnight showcases the facelifted Tiguan Allspace’s side profile and tail-lights, with the primary change visible being a revised LED lighting signature.
What the teaser doesn’t show is the seven-seat SUV’s front end, where the styling changes are expected to be concentrated.
Leaked images out of China earlier this year reveal the updated Allspace will share its front fascia with the facelifted five-seat Tiguan unveiled in 2020, with new Golf-inspired headlights and grille, and sportier lower air intake designs, with the latter varying between standard and R-Line appearance packages.
A 'TIGUAN' badge should also be placed beneath the Volkswagen logo on the tailgate, with the Allspace badge sitting on its left.
While March 2021's leaks didn't capture the interior, Volkswagen promises the inclusion of its latest-generation MIB3 infotainment system, expected to run through a choice of 8.0- or 9.2-inch touchscreens with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other changes carried over from the five-seat model should include a new steering wheel and a touch-based climate control pad, while flagship models should continue to offer niceties like a digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control and heated seats.
The brand claims the facelifted Tiguan Allspace will score "new control and assist systems" which, if the five-seat Tiguan's facelift is any guide, should entail the addition of Volkswagen's Travel Assist system, combining adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist to accelerate, brake and centre the seven-seater within its lane on motorways at up to 210km/h.
Under the bonnet, the pre-facelift Allspace's engine line-up is likely to carry over unchanged, comprising 110TSI front-wheel-drive petrol, 132TSI all-wheel-drive petrol, 140TDI all-wheel-drive diesel, and 162TSI all-wheel-drive petrol options.
The five-seat Tiguan's uprated 147TDI diesel engine could make its way to the Allspace, though that's yet to be confirmed officially by Volkswagen Australia.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace facelift will be revealed in full on 12 May.
An Australian launch is slated for the first quarter of 2022 (January to March inclusive).
