Around the tracks: Blind racer to attempt a new world record in a 600kW Corvette

Plus, a Lamborghini LM002 heads to the snow.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. Blind racer will attempt new world record in a super quick C6 Corvette

Dan Parker is aiming to set the Guinness World Record for “fastest speed for a car driven blindfolded” – attempting the record behind the wheel of a modified Chevrolet Corvette.

Parker lost his vision crashing his 1963 Corvette into a wall at a dragstrip in 2012. To gain this world record, he will need to surpass the current record of 200.5 mph (322.6 km/h) held by Mike Newton from the UK.

The C6 Corvette that Dan is piloting has been modified to deliver 600kW and includes a bespoke guidance system that provides Parker with audible feedback.

2. Indiana Pacers rookie pranked – BMW X6 filled with Popcorn

Cassius Stanley realised that being a rookie can sometimes come with a side of... well, pranks.

The video was shared to Twitter and detailed the basketball star finding his BMW X6 surrounded by a surprising number of teammates after returning from an away game in Memphis. When he opened the door, popcorn spilled out onto the parking lot.

Imagine the hours spent at the car cleaners for this!

3. A 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL custom wagon pops up for sale in Japan

Japan are known for cool custom cars, well how about this one?

A 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL has been made into a wagon. Sporting a blue black finish, this is insanely unique and has popped up online for sale on the Japanese website Carsensor.

The interior and wheels are in keeping with the traditional 1988 vibe, however, the shape – not so traditional!

4. Lamborghini LM002 heads to the snow

It looks just a tad different to the current Lamborghini SUV.

The Lamborghini LM002 is a rare and radical-looking super-SUV, powered by a V12 Lamborghini Countach engine. The fuel tank alone costs approximately $750 to fill, and the special Pirelli tyres cost around $27,000 a set! Watch it go on the snow!

5. AMG Project One rocks up to the ‘Ring for testing, but breaks down before getting on track

Ready, set, breakdown. The AMG’s F1-inspired hypercar – the Project One – showed up to the track for some testing but it didn't go to plan, breaking down reportedly just outside the track entrance.

The Project One will be the first performance hybrid car from AMG. Officially unveiled as a concept in 2017, the car’s 1.6-litre V6 Formula One-derived hybrid power unit is expected to produce approximately 745kW.
