A black 2008 Lotus Exige Sport 240 owned by Blair 'Moog' Joscelyne from popular YouTube channel Mighty Car Mods is going up for auction.
The team from MCM worked with Simply Sports Cars Lotus in Sydney to upgrade the Toyota-sourced 1.8-litre supercharged four-cylinder engine from the standard 179kW (at the engine) to roughly 190kW at the wheels, thanks to an Australian designed and built Harrop supercharger. This, in a vehicle weighing less than 1000kg.
The Exige also received a new exhaust system and a tune to account for the modifications, as well as having the wheel alignment set-up by the SSC crew for the track – with videos documenting the project getting millions of views as the build progressed.
"In this project we wanted to start with a car that was totally different to anything we’ve done before," the guys from Mighty Car Mods said, who are traditionally known for modifying Japanese vehicles.
"We’re huge fans of track driving and the Lotus was a totally new experience."
It's estimated around $15,000 worth of performance upgrades were made to the sports car. The project came to a close with Moog driving the Exige at speed on the Mt Panorama race circuit in Bathurst.
The 2008 Lotus Exige Sport 240 is being auctioned by Collecting Cars Australia, with the virtual hammer set to fall on Wednesday 21 April 2021 at 19:40 AEST. You can find the listing by clicking here.
