The 2022 Nissan GT-R Nismo (R35) has been revealed in Japan, alongside a new special edition.

Both Nismo versions of Nissan's flagship GT-R will be offered in a Stealth Grey colour, while the special edition gets an exclusive clear-coated carbon-fibre bonnet and a set of Rays 20-inch forged alloy wheels.

The latest Nissan logo can also be found on the new models.

The GT-R's 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 delivers 441kW to all four wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission mounted at the rear axle, aiding weight distribution.

All examples of the Nismo special edition are built to order, and come with hand-built engines fitted with new weight-balanced internals for quicker revs and quicker turbo response, Nissan says.

The new GT-R models are fitted with Brembo brake calipers and carbon-ceramic rotors – the largest fitted to a Japanese performance car – as a carry-over from the outgoing Nismo model.

In celebration of the new models, McDonald's restaurants in Japan will be offering a miniature Nissan GT-R Nismo as part of the 'Tomica Happy Meal' from this week.

Though there's no word yet from Nissan Australia as to whether the Nismo will be offered locally, there's a good chance, considering the current model is offered here – though it's unlikely we'll get the special edition shown in these photos.

The 2022 Nissan R35 GT-R Nismo and special edition variant will launch in Japan in October 2021.
