2021 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible revealed, Australian launch early 2022

Bentley slices the top off its most dynamic two-door model ever, creating the 335km/h Continental GT Speed Convertible.

The 2021 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible has been unveiled.

Following in the wheel tracks of its fixed-roof sibling unveiled in March, the Continental GT Speed Convertible arrives as the quickest and "most driver-focused" offering in Bentley's current drop-top line-up.

Power comes from a retuned version of the 'standard' model's 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12, sending 485kW (up 18kW) and 900Nm to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Bentley claims a 3.7-second sprint from zero to 100km/h – one tenth slower than the hard-top – towards a coupe-matching top speed of 335km/h.

Chassis changes to sharpen the Speed's dynamics include a retuned all-wheel drive system offering a more rear-biased torque split in Sport mode, a new electronically-controlled limited-slip rear differential, and a new rear-wheel steering system.

There's also a set of recalibrated transmission maps, with Bentley claiming 100 per cent quicker shifts in Sport mode versus the regular Continental GT W12 convertible.

Lightweight carbon-ceramic brakes can be had as an option, while tri-chamber adaptive air suspension and 48-volt active anti-roll bars come standard, the latter featuring motors capable of applying 1300Nm in 0.3 seconds to counterbalance cornering forces and minimise body roll.

Styling differences over the 'standard' Continental GT Convertible are minor, largely comprising a darker front grille and lower bumper intakes, sportier side skirts, Speed badging and 22-inch forged alloy wheels finished in silver or gloss black.

The Speed Convertible's fabric roof can be raised or lowered in 19 seconds, at speeds of up to 50km/h.

Inside, highlights include an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, diamond-patterned quilted seat trim, Speed embroidery in the headrests, metallic sports pedals, and Speed sill plates.

15 primary and 11 secondary hide seat covering colours are on offer, with available trim inlay choices ranging from the standard-fit Piano Black to a selection of open-pore woof options. Seven exterior roof colours are also available, along with eight choices of headlining.

The 2021 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible will arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2022, alongside its coupe sibling.

Local pricing and specifications will be announced closer to launch.
