Ford Bronco six-wheeler confirmed for US market
The stretched off-roader will reportedly cost more than half-a-million dollars.
A six-wheel variant of the much-anticipated Ford Bronco is set to be offered in the USA, courtesy of conversion specialists Maxlider Brothers Customs.
The goliath off-roader – shown off in the computer-generated renders above – will reportedly be offered from mid-2022 in the USA, priced from US$399,000 (AU$525,000) plus on-road costs.
For reference, the standard base-spec Bronco starts from just US$29,995 (AU$39,000) – this means buyers will pay roughly 13 times the price for just 50 per cent more wheels.
According to Maxlider, the 6x6 will also feature a lift kit, roof-mounted cage, and substantially stretched chassis. While official dimensions are yet to be released, the renders suggest the finished product will comfortably exceed six metres from nose to tail.
It's unclear if the vehicle's 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 powertrain – capable of producing 231kW/542Nm in standard guise – will be upgraded to cope with the additional weight.
However, don't expect to see the custom Bronco in Australia anytime soon – Ford has already confirmed its new retro-inspired SUV won't be built for right-hand drive markets.
