2021 Haval H6 price and specs: Mid-size SUV priced from $30,990 drive-away

Full Australian pricing and specification details for the 2021 Haval H6 have been confirmed, as first examples of the mid-size SUV reach dealers in the coming days.

As reported in March 2021, three variants of the new H6 will be offered in Australia across Premium, Lux and Ultra model grades, with prices spanning from $30,990 drive-away to $38,990 drive-away – undercutting both its mid-size SUV rivals, and many from the class below.

While those figures represent increases of up to $6000 (when comparing flagship front-wheel drive models), Haval's new-generation mid-size SUV offers more power, new interior technology and a full suite of active safety features not previously available with the outgoing H6 range.

All variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 150kW and 320Nm to the road through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Front-wheel drive is standard across the range, with the range-topping Ultra offering an all-wheel drive option. Combined fuel consumption claims range from 7.4 to 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres, with 91-octane regular unleaded compatible across all models.

Opening the local line-up is the H6 Premium, priced from $30,990 drive-away.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels (with a space-saver spare wheel), automatic LED headlights, LED daytime-running lights, tail-lights and rear fog lights, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay (but seemingly not Android Auto), 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, reversing camera, keyless entry and push-button start.

There's also manual air conditioning, manually-adjustable cloth front seats, a six-speaker sound system, rear parking sensors, an electric parking brake, rain-sensing wipers, paddle shifters, tyre pressure monitoring, hill descent control and power-adjustable side mirrors.

A suite of driver assistance features are standard, including forward and reverse autonomous emergency braking  with front-facing pedestrian and cyclist detection lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, lane change assist, manual cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, driver fatigue monitoring, and traffic-sign recognition.

Seven airbags are standard, including one between the front seats to prevent occupants' heads colliding in a side impact.

Stepping up to the H6 Lux, priced from $33,990 drive-away, adds Comfortek faux leather upholstery, heated front seats, six-way power-adjustable driver's seat with electric lumbar, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a chrome grille, front LED fog lights, roof rails and an electronic anti-glare rear-view mirror.

Other additions include power-folding mirrors, an eight-speaker DTS sound system, remote open/close windows, rear privacy glass, and an array of active driving aids including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, intelligent cruise assist, traffic-jam assist and a 360-degree camera.

Sitting atop the range is the H6 Ultra, priced from $36,990 drive-away in front-wheel drive guise, or $38,990 drive-away with an all-wheel drive layout.

Additional features over the Lux include 19-inch alloy wheels (with a tyre repair kit), a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, head-up display, heated steering wheel, heated power-folding door mirrors, and heated and ventilated front seats.

It also gains a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, wireless smartphone charging, fully-automatic parking, ambient cabin lighting, and front and rear cross-traffic alert, the latter capable of detecting and braking for obstacles.

On the practicality front, boot space in all models is rated at 600 litres with the rear seats in place, and 1485 litres with them folded.

Dimensionally, the H6 measures 4653mm long, 1886mm wide and 1724mm high, and rides on a 2738mm wheelbase – 104mm longer overall, 51mm wider, 24mm higher and 18mm longer in wheelbase than its predecessor, and on par with larger entrants in the medium SUV class.

Six colours are on offer: Hamilton White, Energy Green, Mars Red, Ayers Grey, Golden Black and Blue Sapphire. All colours bar Hamilton White are metallic hues, and therefore command a $450 premium.

All H6 models are offered with a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty as standard, bundled with five years of roadside assist and 15,000km/12-month service intervals.

The 2021 Haval H6 is now on sale, with first customer and demonstrator examples to arrive at local dealers in the coming days.
