2021 Haval Jolion LE price and specs: $27,990 drive-away for tech-packed SUV

Full Australian pricing and specifications for the 2021 Haval Jolion have emerged, with the first examples en route to local showrooms.

Two Jolion variants will initially be offered locally, badged Lux LE and Ultra LE, with both models branded under the Launch Edition banner and limited to just 300 units combined across Haval showrooms nationwide.

Prices start from $27,990 drive-away for the Lux LE, and rise to $30,990 drive-away for the Ultra LE – the latter matching the entry-level Premium variant of Haval's larger H6.

While those figures represent a hefty step up over the outgoing, $22,990 drive-away H2 small SUV, the new Jolion offers a significantly longer list of standard equipment, and comfortably undercuts comparably-equipped small and mid-size SUV peers from established brands.

Standard equipment on the 'base' Lux LE includes a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay (as Android Auto isn't expected to be available for a few more weeks, pending further local testing), 7.0-inch digital instrument display, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, keyless entry, push-button start, and 17-inch alloy wheels (with a space-saver spare).

There's also dual-zone climate control, an electric parking brake, a six-speaker sound system, rear parking sensors, automatic LED headlights with follow-me-home functionality, LED fog lights and daytime-running lights, power-folding heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, roof rails, paddle shifters, a heated windscreen and rear privacy glass.

A full suite of driver assistance technologies are standard-fit, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear cross-traffic alert, driver fatigue monitoring and a 360-degree camera.

Tyre pressure monitoring and traffic-sign recognition are also standard, as are six airbags, covering dual front, front side, and curtain for both rows. A centre airbag isn't available.

Stepping up to the Jolion Ultra LE adds a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, a head-up display, electric panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels (with a space-saver spare wheel), and remote-controlled windows from the key fob.

Powering all Jolion models is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 110kW and 210Nm to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – identical outputs to its predecessor, albeit coming from a re-engineered engine free of the old model's six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.

Combined fuel consumption is rated at 8.1L/100km for both variants, with 91 RON regular unleaded supported. Standard, Eco, Sport and Snow drive modes are available.

The Jolion measures 4472mm long and 1841mm wide, sitting on a wheelbase of 2700mm – dimensions more comparable to mid-size SUVs a class above the small crossovers the Jolion and its H2 predecessor are targeted at.

Drive

430 litres of boot space is on offer with the rear seats in place, expanding to 1133 litres with 40:60 split bench folded.

Six colours are available: Hamilton White, Mars Red, Energy Green, Ayers Grey, Blue Sapphire and Golden Black. All colours bar Hamilton White command a $450 premium.

The first examples of the 2021 Haval Jolion LE are in transit to Australian showrooms.
