- Range-topping supercar sheds weight and picks up downforce
- 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine sends 470kW/565Nm to the rear wheels
- On sale now from $596,000 before on-road costs in Australia
This places it at the top of the Huracan line-up, but still leaves it priced below the entry-level Aventador (which starts from $788,914 plus on-road costs).
Drive for the range-topping supercar comes from a mid-mounted 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine, sending 470kW/565Nm to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
This allows the benchmark 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in a claimed 3.0 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 310km/h.
That top speed figure could be higher however, if it wasn’t for an extensive aerodynamic package capable of providing a claimed 450kg of downforce at 280km/h – 53 per cent more than is possible on the outgoing flagship Huracan variant, the all-wheel drive Performante.
Tipping the scales at 1339kg, the STO is also 43kg lighter than its Performante predecessor.
According to the manufacturer, this weight loss was achieved through the addition of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic panels, magnesium wheels, titanium rear wheel-arches, lighter interior trim pieces, and a single-piece carbon-fibre front clamshell (as well as the loss of the front driveshaft fitted to the Performante).
As with all other Lamborghini models, the new supercar is offered with a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
