Justin Bieber’s custom-built Rolls-Royce is out of this world

When Canadian pop star Justin Bieber first laid eyes on Rolls-Royce's outrageous one-off 103EX concept, he knew he simply had to have it. Problem was, Rolls-Royce wasn't selling. So 'The Bieb' did what all people with unlimited means do – he commissioned his own Rolls-Royce based on the futuristic-looking 103XE.

Bieber approached renowned car builder and customiser West Coast Customs, which rose to fame in the early 2000s for its role in reality TV show, Pimp My Ride. But despite the years of experience customising cars, West Coast Customs CEO and founder Ryan Friedlinghaus admitted Bieber's project pushed "the envelope of what exists".

To recreate the one-off design, Firiedlinghaus's team started with a standard Rolls-Royce Wraith, shortened it by 203mm while widening it by 304mm.

Using a scanner, the team created a 3D image of both the interior and exterior of the donor car. Using the 3D image, West Coast Customs crested the custom moulds for the Wraith's new body kit, including perhaps the car's most striking feature, the custom wheel covers that lend the Wraith the appearance of floating on the road.

The exterior was finished in a two-tone combination of gloss silver and matte grey while the interior was transformed with two-tone leather and a host of bespoke styling touches to make the car feel "special".

A high-end audio system was designed and installed with the aim of making Bieber "feel like he was in the studio" while behind the wheel.

The project took three years to complete and left Bieber speechless when he first saw the completed car, officially called 'Uriel'.

West Coast Customs operations manager Chad Utt said, “This thing is insane, it’s probably the biggest project we’ve ever been a part of, at least in the automotive world”.

No dollar value has been placed on the custom build, but the donor car Rolls-Royce Wraith is priced at A$645,000 in standard trim so a seven-figure final cost would not be out of the question. Still, The Bieb can probably afford it.
