2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo revealed for the Middle East
The 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo has been unveiled, offering bold styling and additional performance over the standard model.
At this stage, the sportier Patrol Nismo looks like it won't be offered in Australia, with Nissan developing the SUV specifically for the Middle East – one of the largest international markets for the Patrol.
The car maker's Nismo division – responsible for Nissan's motorsport campaigns, as well as its high-performance road cars – is responsible for building the 5.6-litre petrol V8 by hand, freeing an extra 21kW over the standard Patrol for a total of 319kW. Torque remains at 560Nm.
To help get the Patrol around corners, Nismo have fitted a set of Bilstein shock absorbers at each corner, as well as strengthening the chassis and removing 4.5kg of unsprung weight thanks to lighter 22-inch alloy wheels.
As well as making the Patrol more visually aggressive, Nissan says the red-trimmed body kit is functional, reducing lift at the front-end, while a rear spoiler aids smoother airflow over the car – all of which is said to improve handling at higher speeds.
Buyers get a choice of four colours: black, white, silver, and grey.
Inside, the Patrol Nismo has been upholstered in black leather and red Alcantara, red contrast stitching, and a black Alcantara steering wheel with a carbon-fibre outer rim.
Passengers enjoy a 13-speaker Bose audio system together with an Apple CarPlay-compatible infotainment system and wireless smartphone charging.
While the company has no current plans to bring the Patrol Nismo here, Australian buyers can look forward to the sportier Patrol Warrior, expected to land in showrooms in 2022.
Like the Navara N-Trek Warrior before it, the Patrol Warrior is expected to offer more aggressive looks and a swag of accessories, without compromising the Patrol's highly-regarded off-road capabilities.
