2022 GMC Hummer EV electric SUV teased ahead of next week’s reveal

The 2022 Hummer EV SUV variant has been teased once again by GMC, ahead of its official reveal next week.

The new videos show the most detailed silhouette yet of the mammoth all-electric off-roader, and confirm the model will be unveiled on 4 April 2021.

GMC's pick-up variant of the Hummer EV – which was unveiled to much fanfare in October 2020 – starts from US$112,595 (AU$150,000) plus on-road costs in North America, however it’s expected the SUV will slot into the range with a slightly lower entry price.

Both models are underpinned by the same skateboard chassis and drivetrain. In flagship guise, GMC claims this will produce 735kW/2033Nm, allowing the 0-100km/h benchmark sprint to be completed in a claimed 3.0 seconds.

The Hummer EV will also reportedly have a driving range in excess of 560km from its 200kWh battery. A 350kW high-speed changing system allows 160km of range to be recuperated in just 10 minutes, according to the manufacturer.

The upcoming teaser and launch follow several pre-production sightings of the SUV, one of which took place during a shareholder conference last year (shown below).

When the Hummer EV Edition 1 pick-up was launched in the USA, pre-order slots were reportedly filled in less than 10 minutes.

However, it's unlikely the Hummer EV will be sold in Australia any time soon. If it does come onto the market, it will almost certainly do so via the GMSV marque.
