2021 Haval H6: Initial price and spec details announced

The Chinese brand's new mid-size SUV will arrive next month with sharp pricing and generous equipment levels.

The 2021 Haval H6 will be priced from just above $30,000 drive-away when it reaches Australian showrooms in early April.

Initial pricing and specification details released by Haval confirm three variants of the new mid-size SUV will be offered in Australia, with the entry-level H6 Premium to start from $30,990 drive-away – undercutting not just the H6’s mid-size SUV rivals, but many in the light and small SUV segments below.

All models will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 150kW and 320Nm to the front wheels (or all wheels on certain grades) through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Standard equipment on the H6 Premium includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, reversing camera, and LED headlights, tail-lights, daytime-running lights and rear fog lights.

Standard safety and driver assistance features on the ‘base’ grade include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, driver fatigue monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and seven airbags – including a centre airbag.

The mid-spec H6 Lux – a price for which has yet to be announced – adds ‘Comfortek’ faux leather seats, heated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an electronic anti-glare rear-view mirror, and dual-zone climate control.

It also picks up an eight-speaker DTS premium sound system, LED front fog lights, roof rails, and a handful of active safety and assistance features, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, traffic-jam assist, intelligent cruise assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Sitting atop the line-up is the H6 Ultra, which will be available with a choice of front- or all-wheel-drive – though pricing has yet to announced for either drive configuration.

Additional features over the mid-spec Lux include 19-inch alloy wheels, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, fully-automatic parking, and rear cross-traffic alert capable of both detecting and braking for obstacles.

Confirmed for an Australian launch earlier this year, the new Haval H6 measures 4653mm long, 1886mm wide and 1724mm high, and rides on a 2738mm wheelbase – 104mm longer, 51mm wider and 24mm higher than the model it replaces, with an 18mm-longer wheelbase.

The 2021 Haval H6 will go on sale in Australia in early April, with full pricing and specifications to be released “shortly”, says the brand.
