2021 Subaru Outback: Australian deliveries halted over unknown issue – UPDATE
Australian dealers have been told to immediately stop customer deliveries of the large wagon-turned-SUV on the advice of the company's factory in Japan.
UPDATE, 29 MARCH 2021: Subaru Australia has now issued a recall for 1982 examples of its 2021 Outback, citing a fault with the vehicle's pre-collision braking system that may see it activate unexpectedly.
The issue is the same one that caused the company's factory in Japan to issue a "stop-delivery" notice for the car.

Deliveries of the 2021 Subaru Outback in Australia have been halted for an as-yet unknown reason, after receiving direct communication from its Japan-based factory.
"We can confirm the stop delivery of Model Year 2021 Outback, at the request of the factory in Japan," a Subaru spokesperson told CarAdvice.
"This was communicated to our dealer network late Monday, following advice from the factory.
"We are now awaiting detailed information from the factory, which currently estimates it will be able to give us a formal update during Friday.
"As soon as we have that we’ll move quickly to update customers and dealers, and, where necessary, progress any work required."
Shortly after dealers learned of the stop delivery notice on March 22, customers with existing Outback orders were informed there would be a delay until they received their cars, but specific timing was not provided.
The new-generation Outback arrived in showrooms in February this year, offering three specification grades and an all-new platform.
As of publishing, customers are still able to place orders to purchase the new Outback, with delivery to occur around 8-12 weeks later.
CarAdvice will update this story as more details come to hand.
