2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder recalled for brake light fault

The brake lights may stay on due to an issue with an electrical relay, according to the brand.

Nissan Australia has issued a recall for 14,460 examples of the Nissan Pathfinder (R52), stamped Model Years 2014 and 2015 (MY14-MY15).

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a stop lamp relay may stick in the 'on' position – appearing as if the vehicle is braking at all times.

Nissan says the issue could lead to a loss of engine power, or allow the driver to shift the automatic transmission out of 'Park' without depressing the brake pedal.

Affected vehicles were sold between 25 September 2015 and 31 January 2017. Nissan Australia is contacting owners to organise inspection and repair of the defect.

A spokesperson for Nissan Australia has confirmed to CarAdvice there have been no known incidents related to the fault locally.

A full list of vehicle identification numbers of the 14,460 cars involved in the recall can be found here.
