Cars from five classic films set to go under the hammer

The listed movie cars feature in Fast and Furious, Ford vs Ferrari, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, and The Green Hornet.

An extensive collection of vehicles used on the set of classic films – including Fast and Furious, Ford vs Ferrari, The Green Hornet, Ghostbusters, and Indiana Jones – have come onto the market in the USA, courtesy of auction house Volo Cars.

The replica 1963 Corvette Grand Sport shown below was one of 12 built for the Fast and Furious franchise. It was used by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker during a train heist sequence in Fast Five (2011), but largely kept on an articulated hydraulic arm – for this reason, the listing claims it is in near-perfect condition.

Power comes from a 5.7-litre GM V8 petrol engine, putting a claimed 283kW to the ground via an automatic transmission. The seller is expecting at least US$95,000 (AU$125,000) for the car.

The replica 1966 Ferrari GTB Competizione Speciale shown below is powered by a modern-day Mustang 5.0-litre V8 engine, and was used as an automotive-extra in the smash-hit racing film Ford v Ferrari (2019).

The real car it is based off recently sold for a claimed US$40 million (AU$51 million), however the seller expects no more than US$85,000 ($110,000) for this fibreglass recreation.

A replica 1965 Ford Econoline vanis was also included with the listing, with an asking price of US$30,000 (AU$40,000).

This 1966 Chrysler Imperial shown below – known as 'The Black Beauty' – was used in Seth Rogan’s adaption of The Green Hornet (2011).

According to the listing, power comes from a 5.7-litre Chevrolet 350 V8 engine and the stunt car’s bonnet-mounted machine guns are “functional-ish.”

The seller is expecting US$35,000 (AU$45,000) to US$40,000 (AU$51,000) for the eccentric limousine.

This 1981 Cadillac Hearse was not actually used on the set of the Ghostbusters remake (2011), but rather built by Sony retrospectively for use as a promotional vehicle.

Following the release of the film, the car – which features "roof rack with lots of 'ghost containment' props and lights" according to the listing – was driven around Los Vegas as a novelty prop.

The seller is expecting north of US$20,000 (AU$26,000) for the car.

This 1958 Chevrolet Nomad was the main vehicle used in Let Him Go (2020), starring A-list duo Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.

While a original factory example, the classic family station wagon was restored specifically for the film. It also reportedly made an appearance in the US TV show This is Us (2016-2020).

The seller is expecting at least US$10,000 (AU$13,000) for the car.

This custom 'rocket sled' is a prop from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).

While not strictly a car, Harrison Ford used the obscure device to escape from Nazis in the film. Unfortunately in real life the rocket in not functional.

The seller is expecting US$5000 (AU$6500) to US$10,000 (AU$13,000) for the 'vehicle'.

A custom-built 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 – fitted with it's own flux capacitor from the iconic Back to the Future franchise (1985-1990) – was also listed separately this week, with an asking price of US$500,000 (AU$650,000).
