Porsche Museum to reopen this month
The Porsche Museum is finally reopening its doors after months of being closed due to the coronavirus.
The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany is set to reopen on 16 March 2021, after being closed to the public for many months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As an answer to the forced closure, the Porsche Museum promoted their digital platform 'Porsche 4Kids', and also developed online experiences such as digital live tours.
What's more, from July to November 2020, the Porsche Museum presented their first all-electric sports car, the Porsche Taycan, as part of the 'Start to Drive Electric' exhibition series.
A spokesperson for the museum explained: "We always tried to make the best of the past year. We therefore reacted flexibly to current regulations and always acted in the best interests of our fans and staff.
"Despite all of the challenges, even during the crisis we found new opportunities, and we are delighted now about the reopening, which promises many surprises, and two special exhibitions in 2020."
While they focused on reaching their customers virtually, they also prepared for visitors to return. The team from Porsche Heritage assisted with major changes to the exhibits, one of which included returning a former Le Mans winning car to roadworthy condition.
Visitors now also have the ability to experience the design DNA of cars interactively. The 'Consistent' station features six car models on turntables, one derivative for each model line. When approaching the interactive turntable, all cars stop their pause loop and turn to face the visitor. Visual depictions of the Porsche design DNA are displayed in red illuminated lines.
The museum has also managed to appeal to the motorsport audience, with customers now able to play and compete in E-Sports competitions at all levels.
The original Porsche Museum opened in 1976 in a side road near the Porsche factory, with the current building opening its doors in 2009.
