Around the tracks: Daniel Ricciardo has released his own wine

Plus, a dodgy parking job in Queensland, a new Hot Wheels game and a wooden Bugatti Centodieci.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. Daniel Ricciardo's new wine (yes, you read that right)

While combining drinking and driving is NEVER a good idea, Aussie F1 star Daniel Ricciardo has changed lanes (pun very much intended) and introduced his own wine collection.

"Stoked to introduce the DR3, my own wine range made with the iconic winemakers @sthugowines," Ricciardo announced on his Instagram.

The collection is comprised of two wines – a 2015 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2014 Barossa Shiraz.

And before you make a shoey joke, Ricciardo is way ahead of you: "Definitely NOT using this for a shoey," he posted on social media.

2. This stunningly bad "parking" job in Queensland

Picture this: you return to your neatly-parked vehicle, only to find it has been rear-ended – seemingly from great heights – by a stolen car, with no driver in sight.

This was the case for one poor Queensland resident, whose Suzuki Swift was accosted by a rogue Mitsubishi Lancer that drove toward it from a bizarre angle, mounting the rear right-hand side of the Swift and remaining semi-suspended – like the world's worst parallel parking job.

Apparently, the Lancer was a stolen vehicle and the driver fled the scene.

Around here, we call that a real day-ruiner.

3. Hot Wheels goes digital with a new computer game

If you've run out in room in your house for toy car tracks, it's time to take things digital.

Thankfully, the Hot Wheels empire has just announced the perfect solution – an incoming PC and gaming console game called Hot Wheels Unleashed.

Due in September 2021, it allows up to 12 players at once to build custom tracks, design livery and race their cars.

Let's say there are a few people in the CarAdvice office (ahem, Kez and James) who have already marked their calendars.

4. This meditative video of a HSV Walkinshaw on the Targa High Country 2021 course

If you need a backing track for the weekend but the usual top 40 radio tracks aren't doing it for you, listen to the symphony of this Holden HSV Walkinshaw tackling the Targa High Country 2021 course.

Warning: The not-so-dulcet tones of the engine are accompanied by some NSFW language...

5. This Wooden Bugatti Centodieci

The Bugatti Centodieci, a very limited-edition tribute to Bugatti's EB110, is already a thing of absolute beauty – but it's possible it looks even better carved out of wood.

Only 10 of the cars are being produced, but an 11th version now exists, albeit a smaller and less powerful iteration.

The crafty minds at ND Woodworking Art created a model replica of the Centodieci entirely out of wood, complete with Bugatti's trademark steering wheel, working lights and a rudimentary drivetrain.
