The first SUV from Mercedes-Benz's high-end Maybach brand, the GLS600 will arrive in Australia in "limited numbers" in August 2021, priced from $358,300 before on-road costs – $102,600 more than the range-topping version of the 'standard' Mercedes-Benz GLS, the performance AMG 63.
Under the bonnet of the Maybach GLS600 is Mercedes' familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8, sending 410kW of power and 730Nm of torque to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
It's assisted by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter-generator units, capable of providing an additional 16kW/250Nm under heavy load.
Standard equipment on the luxury SUV includes fine nappa leather upholstery, a power-operated, tilting/sliding panoramic sunroof (with an opaque roller blind), heated and cooled massaging seats, a pair of 12.3-inch screens up front, and two 11.6-inch touchscreens for the rear seats.
A five-seat configuration is fitted as standard, while a four-seat layout can be optioned, with the latter enabling reclining outboard rear seats and the option of a fixed rear centre console with folding tables and an in-built refrigerator.
On the outside, large alloy wheels, a chrome pinstriped grille and Maybach badging are all included as standard.
Under the skin, selectable air suspension is standard, with buyers able to option a "fully-active" system with 48-volt active roll stabilisation (badged E-Active Body Control).
The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 4Matic will arrive in Australia in limited numbers from August.
