  • 2021 Genesis GV70 pricing and specification detailed
  • Two petrol engines and one diesel available
  • Optional Sport Line and Luxury packages detailed
  • Prices from $66,400 before on-road costs, on sale in July

UPDATE, 20 May 2021: Genesis Australia has announced pricing for the new GV70, ahead of its local showroom arrival in July 2021.

Prices range from $66,400 before on-road costs for the entry-level, rear-drive 2.5T, up to $83,400 before on-road costs for the flagship 3.5T AWD Sport.

Versus its initial announcement in early March, Genesis has confirmed all variants will also come standard with memory front seats, a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, Fingerprint Authentication System, and puddle light projection – all previously offered with the Luxury Package.

The original story continues below, with pricing included and the Luxury Package's contents amended.

The 2021 Genesis GV70 has been detailed for the Australian market, with two petrol engines and one diesel available across the line-up.

In total, Genesis will offer four variants in the GV70: the entry-level 2.5T, the 2.5T AWD, the 2.2D AWD, and the range-topping 3.5T AWD Sport.

Opening the GV70 range is the 2.5T, which is powered by a 2.5-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine sending 224kW of power and 422Nm of torque to the rear wheels, while the 2.5T AWD is, as the name hints, offered in all-wheel drive.

The mid-range variant is the GV70 2.2D AWD, which sends 154kW/440Nm to all four wheels from an all-aluminium 2.2-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder engine.

At the top of the range, the GV70 3.5T AWD is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, producing 279kW/530Nm. Power is also sent to all four wheels, but is paired with an rear electro-mechanical limited-slip differential to aid grip.

The entire GV70 line-up is fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission, found across the current Genesis range.

All variants will be available with the optional 'Luxury Package', with all but the flagship model offered with the optional 'Sport Line Package' – though it's worth noting the 3.5T AWD comes standard with many of the features offered in the Sport Line Package.

While acceleration figures have yet to be confirmed for the Australian market, the brand claims a 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds for the flagship 3.5T AWD overseas, as reported by CarAdvice in December 2020.

The GV70 comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, configurable ambient lighting, acoustic laminated windscreen and front-door glass, leather-appointed interior, front power seats with heating and ventilation, and reclining rear seats.

Infotainment comes courtesy of a 14.5-inch high-definition screen with navigation, augmented reality, live traffic updates, DAB+ digital radio, handwriting recognition, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

Audio is piped through a nine-speaker sound system, while 'Qi' wireless charging is available to compatible smartphones.

Option the $4500 Sport Line Package, and owners will be upgraded to Nappa leather with suede-appointed front sport seats, suede headliner and pillars, a sports steering wheel, alloy pedals, aluminium trim, sport gauges for oil temperature, torque, and boost pressure, and the addition of a 'Sport+' driving mode.

On the outside, the package adds a set of 19-inch 'Sport Line' alloy wheels, sportier front and rear bumpers, dual exhaust tips, gloss black grille, front skid plate, and roof rails, and dark chrome highlights.

To help bring everything to a stop safely, the Sport Line Package also includes upgraded brakes.

Step up to the Luxury Package – priced from $11,000 on four-cylinder variants, or $6600 on the 3.5T – and the GV70 gains quilted Nappa leather with a suede headlining and pillars, 3D-effect backlit trim, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with 3D function, a head-up display, and a 1050-watt 16-speaker Lexicon by Harman sound system.

Those who option the Luxury Package on the range-topping GV70 3.5T AWD also gain 21-inch alloy wheels.

Also included in the Luxury Package is Intelligent Front-Lighting System, Integrated Memory System seats, a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, Fingerprint Authentication System, puddle light projection, rear window tint, and additional safety technology in the form of forward-attention warning and rear parking collision-avoidance assist.

Standard safety across the range includes eight airbags – including a centre airbag – as well as an active bonnet for pedestrian safety, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, blind-spot view monitor, driver attention warning with leading vehicle departure alert, forward-collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection and evasive steering assist, high-beam assist, intelligent speed-limit assist, lane-keep assist, and multi-collision braking.

The GV70 will be offered in a choice of eight gloss exterior paint colours, and three matte options, the latter trio priced at $2000. Buyers can also choose from eight interior hues with four different trim inserts.

All 2021 Genesis GV70 models come with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, complimentary scheduled servicing for five years (or 50,000km for petrol engines, and 75,000km for the diesel), five years of the company's 'Genesis to You' program, as well as five years of Valet Service and 24/7 roadside assist.

At this stage, there are only two Genesis dealerships open – one in Sydney CBD and another in Parramatta – with Melbourne and Brisbane dealers due to open by the end of 2021.

In the meantime, Genesis says it can do home or office test drives in other capital cities, until showrooms are open.

The 2021 Genesis GV70 will go on sale in Australia in July.
