Hennessey unveils 745kW McLaren 765LT power upgrade

US-based tuning house Hennessey Performance Engineering will offer an engine upgrade for the McLaren 765LT supercar, allowing for a power increase of approximately 32 per cent.

Known as the HPE1000 package, the upgrade comprises new air filters for the car's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, a re-mapped factory ECU calibration, a stainless-steel exhaust downpipe upgrade, high-flow exhaust componentry, and a chassis dyno calibration.

Power is reportedly upped from 563kW to 745kW, allowing for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 2.1 seconds. For reference, the 'standard' car does the same sprint in a still-impressive 2.7 seconds.

Top speed in an unmodified 765LT is estimated at 330km/h, however it's unclear at what speed the Hennessey-fettled variant will max out.

Regardless, company founder and CEO John Hennessey described the retune as “just nuts.”

Drive understands the HPE1000 upgrade will not be available in Australia. However, in the US, it will be priced at US$24,950 (AU$33,000).
