Around the tracks: Tesla’s latest Easter egg is Monty Python-themed

Plus, a questionable Dodge-Maserati mashup, a frozen Hummer and a Ford Bronco ice sculpture.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. This hilarious Monty Python-themed Tesla Easter egg

Fans of British comedy troupe Monty Python will appreciate Tesla's latest hidden 'Easter egg' feature, which appears to pay tribute to the absurdist phenomenon.

One Model 3 owner accidentally found out that if you attempt to change your vehicle's name to 'Patsy' in the car's infotainment system, a giant animated foot will appear out of nowhere and stomp on the screen while a fart noise plays.

Patsy was a character from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and it turns out that if you name your car after any of the following characters from the Monty Python universe, the same effect will be triggered: Rabbit of Caerbannog, Mr. Creosote and Biggus Dickus.

The foot is the same foot that featured in the intro credits for Monty Python’s Flying Circus TV show, indicating that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is likely a big fan.

2. This video of a man washing his Hummer in freezing weather

"What happens when you wash a car in ~40 degree weather?"

That's the question at the core of this YouTube video filmed by Russian mechanic shop Garage 54.

Needless to say, Russia gets some pretty frosty weather – so cold, in fact, that professional car washes often close.

Left with no other option than to DIY it, the folks at Garage 54 decided to see what would happen if they used a foam washer hose to freshen up their Hummer H2.

The final result looks a bit like a Hummer made out of marshmallows – fun to look at, but not exactly clean.

They then decided to take it out on the road to gauge people's confused reactions, which is possibly the best part of the video.

You can watch the entire process here.

3. This stunningly awful Dodge/Maserati mash-up

When it comes to automotive mash-ups, there are few we can really handle – most are usually dubious in their origins and horrifying in their execution.

Take, for example, this recent sighting on the Instagram account @supercarspotter69: a Dodge Grand Caravan with a faux Maserati grille.

We call it: the Dodgerati. It's so bad it's brilliant, and the Instagram caption is even better...

4. This creative wheel modification idea

Got a portable fan you no longer use? Don't just put it on Gumtree... put it on your car!

Take inspiration from this person who whacked a domestic fan cover onto their car to add a bit of X-factor.

We... don't hate it?

5. This very impressive ice sculpture of the 2021 Ford Bronco

And employee of the year for 2021 goes to... Ford technologist Jacob DiMaria!

The US-based Blue Oval worker created the ultimate tribute to his employer in his own front yard: a very detailed and elaborate ice sculpture of the 2021 Ford Bronco.

Apparently, DiMaria does this kind of thing every year, saying: “I enjoy doing the Ford-themed sculptures each year (when there’s enough snow available) because I work for Ford and so do a lot of other people in Dearborn."
