2021 Ram 1500 TRX SRT-10 imagined
What would a Ram TRX look like if it was given the SRT treatment?
One of the world's most powerful pick-ups – the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX – has been transformed into an SRT-10 muscle ute in these speculative renders.
Using the 2004-2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10 as inspiration, US publication Motor Trend imagined the Ram 1500 TRX SRT-10 with an 8.3-litre petrol V10 engine.
The original Dodge Ram SRT-10 borrowed its powertrain from the third-generation Dodge Viper, putting out 373kW and 712Nm. For comparison, at the time our own home-grown 2004 HSV Maloo R8 offered 297kW and 530Nm from its 6.0-litre V8.
Even without the SRT badge, the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX does better than those figures, with its 6.2-litre supercharged 'Hemi' V8 producing 523kW and 881Nm, taking the 2.7-tonne pick-up to 100km/h in a touch over 4.5 seconds.
Motor Trend's resident artist Abimelec Arellano took a number of design cues from brand stablemates such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the Dodge Durango SRT in creating the Ram TRX SRT-10, with black exterior highlights, a lower and wider stance, and finished in 'Destroyer Grey'.
Unless the power wars heat up between GM, Ford, and Chrysler (owner of Ram), it's unlikely we'll see an SRT variant of the TRX any time soon. But given the brand's history, never say never.
