Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 continue strong run of sales

The Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 ute twins under the skin continued their strong run of sales in February, according to the most recent VFACTS sales data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

Isuzu reported 1765 examples of its D-Max as sold over the month, comprising 485 rear-wheel drive 4x2 models and 1280 four-wheel-drive variants.

Meanwhile, Mazda reported 1184 examples of its BT-50 as sold. Of these, 169 were rear-wheel drive variants while 1015 were four-wheel drive.

When the figures for both models are combined, 2949 examples of the structurally-identical utes were reported as sold – making the combined tally the second best-selling 'vehicle' outright nationwide, ahead of the Ford Ranger (2900 units), but behind the Toyota HiLux (4808).

The combined figure also represents a 2.7 per cent increase over the January result, when 2869 examples of the D-Max and BT-50 were reported as sold.

The D-Max starts at $32,200 plus on-road costs locally, while the BT-50 is priced from $36,550 before on-roads.
