2021 Porsche Taycan deliveries begin in Australia

The first examples of the all-electric German sports sedan are now on local roads.

Customer deliveries of the 2021 Porsche Taycan have officially begun in Australia, with the first examples of the all-electric sports sedan now on local roads.

An online report released overnight suggest there are approximately 100 Taycans in the country, with each of the brand’s 14 local dealerships picking up showroom stock.

It is unclear how long the waiting list for a Porsche Taycan stretches in Australia, or if there are more cars than there are buyers.

So far, 13 Taycans have been reported as sold by Porsche in Australia, according to the most recent VFACTS report from January 2021.

The all-electric Taycan is powered by dual electric motors, drawing voltage from a 79.2kWh or 93.4kWh lithium-ion battery.

The car is available in 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S variants locally, producing 350kW, 420kW, or 560kW respectively with the larger battery pack optioned.

All three models are all-wheel drive. An entry-level, rear-wheel-drive Taycan was unveiled earlier in 2021, though CarAdvice understands it won't reach Australian shores until early 2022.

The 4S model is priced from $190,400 plus on-road costs in Australia, while the flagship Turbo S starts at $338,500.

More than $100,000 worth of options – including $14,600 21-inch 'aeroblade' wheels – are also on offer, according to the online Porsche Configurator (shown above).
