Tiger Woods crashes 2021 Genesis GV80 loan car
Golf superstar has been a brand ambassador for Hyundai's luxury marque since 2019. He has now delivered the company some unexpected headlines.
Tiger Woods has been involved in a serious crash on a Californian highway, behind the wheel of a Genesis GV80 loan car.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the 'jaws of life' were required to extract Mr Woods from the vehicle. He was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance with “multiple leg injuries,” where he underwent emergency surgery.
No other cars appear to be involved. Images of the aftermath show significant front-end damage, and it appears the car left the road at high speed.
The Golf superstar – who has been a brand ambassador for Genesis since 2019 – had been making media appearances for the Hyundai-owned manufacturer in the hours before the accident.
The 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV has a spate of high-tech safety features, however is yet to be tested by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
Mr Woods is known to be a fan of exotic cars, and reportedly owns an extensive private fleet comprising a Cadillac Escalade, Lamborghini Murcielago, Buick Bengal, Porsche Carrera GT, Buick Velite, Mercedes-Benz S65, Buick Enclave, Buick Lacrosse, and Lexus lS460.
