Mini has added yet another special-edition model to its Australian line-up, with the confirmation of local pricing and specification details for the 2021 Mini Paddy Hopkirk Edition.

Built to honour Irish rally driver Patrick 'Paddy' Hopkirk and his win behind the wheel of a classic Mini Cooper S at the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally, the Paddy Hopkirk Edition is now available to order in Australia, with a choice of three body styles and engine combinations.

Paddy Hopkirk Edition pricing starts from $54,800 before on-road costs in Cooper S 3-Door hatch guise, $56,400 before on-road costs for the Cooper S 5-Door, and $69,000 before on-roads as the flagship John Cooper Works 3-Door hatch.

Mini's Australian website lists drive-away pricing for all three models of $60,800, $62,400 and $75,000 respectively.

Finished in Chilli Red with a white contrast roof and black mirror caps, the Paddy Hopkirk Edition features black rally-inspired auxiliary lights, Piano Black exterior trim, a '37' decal on the doors (referencing the 1964 car's race number), unique side scuttle trim pieces, and a driver's-side white bonnet stripe with '33 EJB' insignia (the race car's licence plate) and Paddy Hopkirk's signature.

Cooper S models score 17-inch black John Cooper Works-branded 'Track' wheels, while full-fat John Cooper Works variants feature 18-inch, gloss black 'Style 506' alloys. Hopkirk's signature also features on the rear tailgate and passenger-side door trim, while the Irish driver's name can be seen on the illuminated door sills.

Other standard features on Cooper S Paddy Hopkirk Edition models – many of which were formerly optional – include a panoramic sunroof, a John Cooper Works styling kit, sports suspension, Piano Black interior trim, an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Mini Yours black leather trim, a 5.0-inch instrument cluster display, Paddy Hopkirk dashboard badging and anthracite headlining. and

There's also a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon premium sound system, keyless entry, push-button start, autonomous emergency braking, cruise control, parking sensors, a reversing camera, Mini Connected in-car services, and LED headlights, tail-lights and fog lights.

Powering Cooper S variants is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 141kW and 280Nm to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Stepping up to the John Cooper Works Paddy Hopkirk Edition brings a brawnier powertrain, a 170kW/320Nm version of the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder, capable of a 6.1-second 0-100km/h sprint thanks to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive.

Additional features over lesser Cooper S models include the aforementioned 18-inch wheels, plus adaptive LED headlights and adaptive cruise control.

Just 65 Paddy Hopkirk Editions will be offered nationwide, comprising 25 Cooper S 3-Doors, 25 Cooper S 5-Doors and 15 John Cooper Works models.
