Top Gear USA TV show debut attracts 1.9 million viewers

It's not all that many viewers by America's standard, but it is considered 'not bad'. Top Gear USA made its debut on American television last Sunday on its History Channel.

By comparison, the History Channel's top rated show, according to Inside Line, Pawn Stars, normally attracts between three and five million viewers. It is twice as many but it was Top Gear's first show, so a few more episodes might change things.

Adam Ferrara, Tanner Foust, Rutledge Wood hosted the show and took part in usual Top Gear-esque activities, such as challenging a Dodge Viper SRT-10 against a Cobra attack helicopter, as well as comparing three Lamborghinis: the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, the Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, and the Murciélago LP670-4 SuperVeloce.

Report and blog commenters that have seen the show complained that it wasn't as good as the original UK program, but many also said it was good for a first-ever episode. Whether the ratings will continue at the current level or increase is another matter. Only time will tell.
