Porsche Taycan smashes through showroom window, Russian vlogger gets millions of clicks

Here’s five minutes and 16 seconds of your life you won’t get back.

A Russian vlogger has driven a brand-new Porsche Taycan electric car through a showroom window in an apparent drive to get more clicks on his YouTube channel.

The stunt appears to have worked because, well, we're guilty of clicking on it and the video had received 2 million views in 24 hours and was approaching 4 million views as this article was published.

So we had a meeting at work this morning and debated whether or not to help shine a spotlight on a video that appears to celebrate the destruction of perfectly good performance-luxury cars – or do we ignore it and move on and try to find more stories about Holden and Tesla?

And if you’ve made it this far into the story, you can tell we decided to run with it; 4 million views and counting can’t be all wrong.

In case you think the guy in the video looks familiar, that’s because he’s the same person who drove a Mercedes-AMG into a field, poured petrol over it and then lit a match.

Drive

We’re now really curious to find out just how rich this guy is and where he gets his money.

The video may not have the support of Porsche globally, but it clearly has the co-operation of this particular Porsche dealer.

On an artistic note, we will give him credit for one thing. The first four minutes or so are filmed in one take, with no edits.

Drive

He starts the video being abused in the car park to walking inside the Porsche showroom, to oddly sniffing cars, and walking around in a daze before he gets behind the wheel and drives through what appears to be a showroom window.

Was “movie glass” installed for the stunt? Maybe a glazier can let us know in the comments below if they think this glass is real or not, based on these images from the YouTube video.

What is real is the damage to the front of the poor Porsche Taycan. It will need a bit more than a buff out, but at least this one is not a write off.

Drive

If you just want to watch the action, go straight to the 4 minute and 15 second mark in the video.

If you have five minutes to kill, watch the whole video from start to finish and see if you can work out what’s wrong with this guy.
