2021 Audi E-Tron GT leaked ahead of February 9 debut

Porsche Taycan-based EV leaked in online pics, showing concept-inspired design.

The 2021 Audi E-Tron GT has leaked online, ahead of its full unveiling on 9 February 2021 at 11pm AEDT.

An array of photos published to Spanish website Cochespias – and subsequently re-shared by CarAdvice spy photography partner Andreas Mau (@race356) on Instagram – reveal the upcoming E-Tron GT inside and out, free of the Audi-branded camouflage that adorned late-stage development cars in official previews and spy photos.

From the outside, the production E-Tron GT is all-but-identical to the 2018 concept that previewed it, featuring a sleek shape, bold rear haunches and a distinctive front wheel-arch vent also reminiscent of the car's twin under the skin, the Porsche Taycan.

Up front, the concept's fascia has been largely carried over, though certain elements have been toned down for production, namely the futuristic, patterned central grille elements, which have now been replaced with body-coloured and solid black finishes.

The concept's full-width tail-light bar carries over at the rear, as does its aggressive rear diffuser.

Whereas the exterior photos show the 'standard' E-Tron GT model, the interior images preview the range-topping RS performance variant, differentiated by its Alcantara-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, red contrast stitching and RS-branded sports bucket seats.

A large infotainment screen is integrated into the dashboard, with physical climate controls mounted below. There's also a novel switch-based gear selector, even smaller in dimensions than the much-discussed unit in the latest Porsche 911.

Powering the flagship RS E-Tron GT are a pair of electric motors, mated to a 93.4kWh lithium-ion battery shared with the Taycan to produce 475kW of power and 830Nm of torque. Audi claims a sub-3.5-second 0-100km/h sprint time.

The 2021 Audi E-Tron GT will debut in full on 9 February 2021, at 11pm AEDT. An Australian launch is expected later in 2021.
