2011-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee recalled with fuel pump fault

According to the manufacturer, contacts on the fuel pump relay could potentially succumb to silicon contamination.

Jeep Australia has recalled 16,305 examples of its Grand Cherokee, citing a potential fault with the fuel pump relay.

The affected vehicles were sold between 1 November 2014 and 31 January 2021 (Model Years 2013-2014).

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says: “The fuel pump relay on some vehicles may be susceptible to silicon contamination on the relay contacts. This can cause the relay to fail.”

“A fuel pump relay failure can result in the engine stalling or a no-start condition – if the engine stalls while driving there is an increased risk of an accident resulting in injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the notice continues.

CarAdvice has contacted Jeep Australia for further comment on the hazard. This story will be updated with its response.
