2022 Volkswagen ID.6 leaked online

The large all-electric SUV is expected to come onto the European, North American, and Chinese markets sometime next year, however an Australian launch is yet to be confirmed.

New images of the upcoming Volkswagen ID.6 have leaked online, ahead on an expected 2022 launch.

The photos – posted to spy website Cochespias earlier this week – give the best look yet at the full-size all-electric SUV.

Many design traits appear to have carried over from the ID. Roomzz concept from which it is derived (shown below), however the grille, wheels, and roofline have been reeled back for production.

Unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show in concept form, the ID.6 will be built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform.

CarAdvice understands it will feature two electric motors, drawing voltage from an 82kWh lithium-ion battery to produce 75kW and 150kW respectively (leading to a total output of 225kW).

A battery range of approximately 450km is estimated.

According to international media reports, the ID.6 will be offered in the Chinese market by 2022 before making its way to Europe and America.

No timeline for a local launch has yet been announced, however a spokesperson for Volkswagen Australia told CarAdvice the first vehicles from the electric 'ID' range were slated for 2023 – it is expected the ID.4 SUV will be the first variant to arrive Down Under.
