Pricing and specifications for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz Vito van have been announced.
The smallest Mercedes-Benz van (and its Valente people mover twin) has gone under the knife for 2021, gaining a revised exterior, upgraded interior, and an increase in available safety technology – all accompanied by a simplified range, hit with price rises up to $6700.
From the outside, the updated Vito gains a new grille finished in chrome on all variants bar the base 111 (which gets a black unit), while top-spec 119 models pick up Intelligent Light System LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights, LED indicators and auto high-beams, replacing lower grades' halogen lamps.
Inside, changes include new 'Caluma' cloth trim, turbine-style chrome air vents on the edges of the dashboard, a new piano black infotainment surround, and an optional digital rear-view mirror connected to a camera mounted in the rear window, allowing a view out the rear of the vehicle, even if the cargo area is full and the view is blocked.
Mounted within the infotainment surround is a new 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and a sharper reversing camera, replacing the smaller outgoing unit.
New 17-and 18-inch alloy wheel designs are available, as are Graphite Grey, Selenite Grey, Hyacinth Red and Steel Blue paint finishes.
However, the headline upgrades centre around the Vito and Valente's safety suites, which are now available with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality – though the latter is standard only on the flagship 119.
Lane-keep assist and blind-spot monitoring are now standard, joining Crosswind Assist, driver attention monitoring and a suite of airbags.
The facelift has also seen the introduction of a simplified, diesel-only model range.
The 110kW/330Nm 114 CDI diesel has been axed, as have all short-wheelbase variants bar the entry-level 111 CDI SWB.

"The versatility of Vito really sets it apart. In Australia, examples of its use include an RACV home and roadside assist vehicle, an Australian Post delivery van, an Optus technical service vehicle and as a trusted tool for many smaller business operations like florists or even mobile fitness instructors", said Diane Tarr, Mercedes-Benz Vans managing director.
"The newly designed radiator grille now makes it an even more attractive representation, and with more standard safety, new assistance systems and an upgraded infotainment offering, it will continue to meet the demands of our customers."
