The 2021 Volkswagen Amarok will soon be available with a range of off-road accessories in Australia from the second half of this year.
Volkswagen Australia has confirmed it plans to introduce a new range of off-road-focused accessories, badged under the Seikel brand, on certain Amarok variants, with available add-ons such as suspension lift kits, snorkels, rock sliders and underbody protection.
Already on sale in Europe, Australian government documents indicate the upgrades will be offered locally as part of three packages: Alpine, Desert and Expedition (though whether those are the final names that will be carried to production has yet to be locked in).
The 'Alpine' pack adds a polyethylene snorkel and a 25mm Koni Raid lift kit with unique springs and twin-tube shock absorbers. The 'Desert' configuration comprises a bespoke 'Desert' 25mm lift kit, with 3mm steel protection plates for the rear shocks available as an option.

The 'Expedition' offers the widest array of components, with the Koni Raid suspension and polyethylene snorkel standard-fit, and the rear shock absorber protection plates, a set of high-strength aluminium side rock sliders, and underbody protection available as an option.
The extent of the underbody protection to be available on Australian models remains unclear, with Seikel in Germany offering aluminium plates covering everything from the engine and gearbox to the rear axle and transfer case.
An image published with the government listings also indicates chunkier all-terrain tyres will be offered with the packages.
While pricing has yet to be confirmed, the equivalent of the full Expedition pack in Germany would set buyers back AU$11,500 (€7300) – however, the upgrades are expected to be cheaper in Australia, given the aforementioned figure includes Europe's 19 per cent VAT tax (versus Australia's 10 per cent GST).
Given the Seikel upgrades will be sold as official accessories by Volkswagen Australia, the brand's full five-year/unlimited-kilometre factory warranty will be retained with the off-road parts fitted.
Also unclear is which Amarok variants the off-road accessories will be available with.
While the government documents list the upgrades as compatible with all dual-cab and cab-chassis Amaroks bar the entry-level four-cylinder manual, CarAdvice understands only certain grades will offer the Seikel parts – though which models in particular have yet to be finalised.
2021 Volkswagen Crafter Seikel accessories
It's also worth noting a similar Seikel upgrade package will be offered with Volkswagen's large Crafter van, expected to go on sale before the end of 2021.
Tentatively dubbed 'Offroad', the pack will be available with both cab-chassis, tray and low, high- and super-high-roof van bodies, and will comprise a 30mm lift kit as standard, with a secondary air compressor available as an option on tray-back models.
The 2021 Volkswagen Amarok Seikel accessory range is slated to go on sale in Australia in the second half of 2021, with the Volkswagen Crafter accessories set to launch by "later" in 2021, the brand confirmed.
