2021 Ford Mustang price and specs

A range of small but notable changes have arrived for Ford's flagship performance car in Australia.

  • 2021 Ford Mustang price and specs detailed
  • Minor updates for Ford's pony car, including a FordPass modem
  • Different colours and some minor changes round out the updates
  • Prices rise by up to $200, from $51,690 to $83,365 before on-roads

Pricing and specifications for the 2021 Ford Mustang have been confirmed, revealing a number of minor changes to the much-loved pony car for the new Model Year.

While minimal, changes for Model Year 2021.5 Mustang models are led by the addition of the FordPass Connect system – allowing owners to lock/unlock, enable climate settings in, locate and (on auto models) start their car from the FordPass app.

Like other Ford vehicles that gained the feature in recent months, Mustang prices are up by $200 across most of the range – a full pricing breakdown is listed at the bottom of this story.

Above: New Ford Mustang colours for MY21 comprise Yellow Peel (top left), Carbonized Grey (top right) and Antimatter Blue (bottom centre).

A new black engine cover (replacing silver) features under the bonnet, while a handful of other features have been removed, namely the illuminated glove box, acoustic laminated windscreen (replaced with a non-acoustic laminated unit), and the Black Shadow Pack previously offered as an option on the GT Fastback coupe.

The colour palette has seen a tweak, with Kona Blue, Grabber Lime and Magnetic (grey) hues replaced by Yellow Peel, Carbonized Grey and Antimatter Blue.

Standard equipment is otherwise unchanged, including an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and satellite navigation, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, a 12-speaker B&O Play sound system, LED headlights, leather trim, 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking and more.

However, it's worth noting a selection of those features aren't available on Mach 1 models, contrary to earlier announcements – for more details on what features are missing from the Mach 1, and Ford's compensation to owners, read the full story here.

The engine line-up also carries over, comprising a 236kW/448Nm 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder in the 'base' High Performance, and a 339kW/556Nm 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 in the GT. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a choice of six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmissions.

The Mustang Mach 1 features with a 345kW version of the GT's 5.0-litre V8, offering a choice of six-speed Tremec manual or 10-speed auto gearboxes.

Production of the supercharged Mustang R-Spec has ceased, with all 500 planned units rolling off the production line.

The 2021 Ford Mustang is on sale now.
